HANCEVILLE, ALA. – Wallace State’s 18th-ranked volleyball team registered its second conference victory on the young season Wednesday night, sweeping Bevill State (25-9, 25-16, 25-10) on the road.
The Lions (5-1), coached by Randy Daniel, have defeated the Bears and Bishop State in early Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) action.
Sophomore Savannah Rutledge, a 2nd-team NJCAA All-American last season, finished with 32 assists and nine digs vs. Bevill State, while freshman Daisy Manasco had nine digs and seven kills.
Temperance Chatman had a team-high 15 digs for the Lions, Haven Hall finished with nine kills and three digs, Lexi Shadix had eight kills, Mallie Williams collected six digs and Chloe Shadden added five digs.
Through seven matches, Rutledge has already compiled a conference-best 232 assists.
Hall leads the conference with 72 kills, freshman Madison Raybon has added 39 and Manasco has 36.
Chatman has racked up a conference-best 91 digs. Megan Edmond has 47 digs and Rutledge has added 43.
Daniel is in his 15th season with the Lions, surpassing the 500-career win mark last season. The Lions have won 13 straight ACCC regular-season championships and 11 of the last 12 conference tournament titles.
Wallace State volleyball hosts the two-day Diggin’ in the Den tournament at Traditions Bank Arena inside Tom Drake Coliseum on Friday and Saturday.
On Friday, the Lions play Lawson State at 2 p.m. and Chattanooga State at 4 p.m.
