CULLMAN, Ala. – The Friends of the Public Libraries of Cullman County will be hosting their 2nd Annual Virtual 5K Run/Walk and One Mile Fun Run Sept. 24-30. This event will be held in support of the Cullman County Public Library System. There is a registration fee of $25, with online registration available at https://raceroster.com/events/2021/49647/2nd-annual-book-it-virtual-5k.

Member of the Friends of the Public Libraries Renee Welsh shared with The Tribune, “Registration is off to the races for our 2nd Annual Virtual Book-It 5K! Just like last year’s event – in our effort to create a safe opportunity during these continued challenging times – our race will be virtual. Walk, run, stroll or meander through your favorite park or neighborhood. Or, if you are an indoor runner/walker, your treadmill works! You choose the pace and the day or stretch it out over the course of the event.”

Welsh also made sure to mention, “For those who want to sponsor a participant – you can donate through the same registration link on our social media links or log on to the Cullman County Public Library webpage at http://www.ccpls.com. Also, a huge shoutout of thanks to our generous sponsors who continue to make it possible to host this event.”

There are four available levels of sponsorship

  • Bronze – $100 donation
  • Silver – $250 donation
  • Gold – $500 donation
  • Platinum – $1,000 donation
  • The deadline for registration and sponsorship commitment is Sept. 15.

President of the Friends of the Public Libraries Tanya Alcorn shared, “This is the 2nd Annual Book-It Virtual 5K Fundraiser for the Friends of the Public Library.  Last year’s event was very successful, allowing us to support our libraries mission in the community through projects for improvements to the library facility and the children’s reading area, and also investing in multiple “free little libraries” around the county. The sponsors of last year’s event made our fundraising abilities so successful and grateful for each donation. We are looking forward to an equally successful Virtual 5k this year.”
