Jerry Wayne Fortenberry, 71, of Hayden, formerly of Addison, entered into rest on Monday, August 16, 2021 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Birmingham.
Jerry was born on May 28, 1950 in Addison. He was an all-around good guy, who was a jokester with a sarcastic but great sense of humor. Jerry enjoyed camping primitive style, in the woods and in a tent. He was a loving, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 20, 2021 from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Addison, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Brother Oneal Taylor will officiate. Burial will follow in Enmondfield Cemetery in Addison.
Jerry is survived by his wife: Viola Fortenberry; daughter: Tammy Fortenberry; grandchildren: Krista Floyd and Dalton Payne; five great-grandchildren; stepson: Stan Martin; stepdaughters: Tina Ann Lewis and Kellie Graham; sisters: Betty Johnson and Brenda Benavidez and her husband Rolando and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife: Martha Fortenberry; sons: Tony Fortenberry and Scotty Wayne Fortenberry; father: Jack Fortenberry; mother: Hazel Freeman and brothers: Coy Ray Fortenberry and Frank Fortenberry.
