Funeral service for Benny R. Johnson, age 87, of Cullman, will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 15, 2021 at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home with Bro. Billy Gable and Dr. Tim Lipsey officiating annd burial at Duck River Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 15, 2021 at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home.

Mr. Johnson passed away on Friday, August 13, 2021 at his residence. He was born August 9, 1934 in Alabama to Hosea Thomas and Lizzie Minnie Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Glenda Ellen Quick Johnson; parents; son: James Allen Johnson; four brothers: Bill Johnson, Horace Johnson, Guy Johnson and Ishmael Johnson and four sisters: Ella Mae Jordan, Geraldine Whittin, Gloria Jean Parker, Pauline Kelgore and Christen Morgan.
He and Glenda were married June 23, 1956, together they had two sons. He was the last living of all his siblings.
Benny served in the U.S. Army as military police from April 1957 to April 1959. He was called to preach and certified in 1983, and preached until he had a massive stroke in 2000. The stroke had impaired his speech and he was no longer able to preach. He also worked as an electrician for IBEW from 1962 up to retirement (60 years).
Survivors include his son: Steve (Karen) Johnson; grandsons: Zach (Kayla) Johnson and Ben (Hannah) Johnson; great-granddaughters: Riley Kate and Nora Jean Johnson and one to arrive October 2021: Addalyn Olivia Johnson and a host of nieces and nephews.
