Horace “The Candyman” Edward Gentry Sr., age 90, of Crane Hill, Alabama passed away on Saturday, July 31, 2021. Horace was born March 28, 1931 in West Blocton, Alabama.

Horace is survived by sons: Horace (Vicki) Gentry Jr. and Cary (Cheryl) Gentry; daughters: Debbie (Ron Chandler) Gentry and Sandra (Michael) Mattox; grandchildren: Kevin (Kelley) Gentry, Chris (Belinda) Gentry, Patrick (Britney) Dunagan, Carissa (Corey) Dell, Kelsey (Eric) Cornelius, Joe Bailey Jr., Jay (Amy) Gentry, Chris (Holli) Mattox and Ashley (Matt) Knight; 18 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Horace was preceded in death by wife of 64 years: Mira Dean Morrison Gentry; parents: Charlie Caldwell and Mary Della Hyde Gentry; sisters: Virginia (Robert) Gosnell, Mona Ray Livingston, Edith (Marty) Green and Jeanette (Leyton) Chastain and brothers: Elbert (Flo) Gentry, Glen (Bernice) Gentry, Paul (Opal) Gentry, A.J. (Mattie) Gentry and Don Gentry.

A celebration of life visitation for Horace will be held Tuesday, August 3, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Moss-Service Funeral Home (1901 2nd Avenue, N.W., Cullman, Alabama 35055). A celebration of life funeral service will occur Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel. An interment will occur Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at Good Hope Cemetery (90 Good Hope School Road, Good Hope, AL 35057).
