CULLMAN, Ala. – Renee Welsh from the Friends of the Public Library continued the library’s summer fun as she led local children in cardmaking at the Cullman County Public Library Tuesday morning. With cardstock, a wide range of stamps and some double-sided tape, she led several children, and even a few library associates, in this personalized creative process.

With gentle guidance, Welsh told all in attendance, “There are no mistakes. There is no messing up when you are being creative.” She explained that each year, she makes her own cards for special occasions and that it allows an especially personal touch to be added to the process of giving.

With nearly 20 handmade cards at the end of the hourlong event, Welsh concluded the day by sharing, “The freedom of expression is what art is. You cannot make a mistake here because you made it how you saw it, and that is what makes it art.”
