Sara Gasser Bedard was a compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She passed away on July 24, 2021 after a struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. She died peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones, who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives by her faithful example.
She was born to Alvin and Margaret Gasser on July 31, 1951. She was the youngest of six children. Sara met her husband, Eddie, at Cullman High School in 1966. They married in 1971 and had three children together. She graduated from college with her degree in elementary education. Sara shared her love of learning with hundreds of students over her 30-year career. Sara’s success in teaching was evident, as former students would regularly approach her and express their thanks. After her retirement, she enjoyed caring for her grandchildren.
Sara loved playing the piano, singing, cooking for her family and gardening. Sara’s personality was contagious to everyone she met. Her laughter was infectious and would fill a room.
Sara is survived by her husband: Eddie; her children: Maria, Chrissie (Scott) and Heath (Leanna); grandchildren: Tess, Evy, Fitz, Rhett and Vaughn; siblings: Robert (June) Gasser, Raymond (Eileen) Gasser, Nancy (Edward) Polk, Mary Margaret Spradlin and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
