BAILEYTON, Ala. – The Town of Baileyton will kick off the first of several special events at the town’s park this Saturday with Baileyton Fun Day. The Baileyton Town Council met Monday night and gave updates on what should be a great day for everyone to enjoy. Free health screenings will begin at 8 a.m. with the other festivities beginning at 10 a.m.

The Baileyton Fun Day is free to attend and will have a great variety of entertainment and activities for the entire family. For the children, a 15-foot inflatable slide, jousting arena, obstacle course, petting zoo and train rides are just a few of the planned activities.

Councilmember Dewayne Sumner updated the council on playground equipment improvements and ongoing efforts to be ADA compliant. He explained that several new pieces of equipment for the younger children are already installed, while some of the older pieces are currently being refurbished. He said, “Hopefully by the 12th, everything will be compliant out there.”

As of Monday, 35 vendors have registered to set up booths, as well as 10 food trucks. Live music is scheduled throughout the day with Bobby Brooks and Jim getting the tunes going at 10 a.m. Local superstar Jesse Priest will be entertaining the crowd from noon – 3 p.m. Another local favorite, Out of Time, will wrap up the day playing until 5 p.m.

First responders from the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office’s Water Patrol and Swat Team, Baileyton Volunteer Fire Department and more will have equipment for folks to see up close.

For the cornhole lovers, Cullman County Cornhole Club is planning two cornhole tournaments in two different divisions with winners from each to be crowned. If cool cars and trucks are more your thing, check out the car show! Winners will be chosen by People’s Choice and Mayor’s Choice.

Cullman Regional will have medical staff set up to provide free health screenings to children and adults from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. They will be screening height, weight, blood pressure, body mass index, glucose, cholesterol and more and it’s FREE. Also on hand will be representatives from Home Health and Hospice.

The LifeSouth Bloodmobile will be set up from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Those who donate will receive a free T-shirt, coupons for a free Lawler’s barbecue sandwich and a pound of Papa Murphy’s cookie dough with pizza purchase.

Except for purchases from vendors and food trucks, the Fun Day and the activities are free for the community. Baileyton Park is located at 600 Fire Station Road. The event will be from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
