CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman County Bosom Buddies Foundation is thrilled to be hosting its first major fundraiser since 2019 at the Cullman Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2214. The organization will have its first Craft Fair and Vendor Expo from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.–rain or shine!
There will be something for everyone at the craft fair and vendor expo. Temple Baptist stepped up to assist Bosom Buddies by providing free lunch from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. and a fun bounce house for the kids from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Bosom Buddies director Judy Grissom said, “We are very excited about them supporting us with this.”
Vendors will be set up inside and outside at the VFW. Outside space is still available for interested vendors. To register, email options5993@gmail.com
Grissom is expecting a great variety of items at the event. Door hangers, Tupperware, woodwork, pottery and other crafts will be in attendance for a great shopping opportunity.
Also available at the event–the 4th Edition Bosom Buddies Cookout will be available for purchase. The cost is $25. A raffle for some great items that have been donated will be drawn at the conclusion of the event. Raffle tickets will be $1. Donations are also welcomed.
“This is our first event to have this year, and this is going to be our annual event. We are going to move this into our annual fundraiser. This year, the VFW was gracious enough to let us use their building and their property and we are grateful to them for letting us have them. We are tickled to death to be able to be out and about having a fundraiser again,” Grissom explained.
Bosom Buddies is a local nonprofit that assists all types of cancer patients who reside in Cullman County, regardless of where they are receiving treatment. The organization was unable to have their yearly fundraisers during the COVID-19 pandemic and have had to make major adjustments, especially this year, according to Grissom.
“Last year was tough. We had to do some adjusting as far as how much we were allotting patients. We’ve raised that up now, not up to the level it was in 2019. Hopefully, after this event, we can get it back up to where it was in 2019. Last year was a struggle!” Grissom said.
All donations to Bosom Buddies stay to help local patients. Grissom explained, “All the money that is raised will go for cancer patients’ care. Basic living expenses are what we take care of. For a lot of people, we are the means by which they are able to continue in a treatment program because a lot of people don’t have a lot of money and that’s the reason they qualify for our assistance. When it comes to buying groceries or paying for a copay for a treatment, you’re going to buy groceries. We help them out in that way.”
The Cullman County Bosom Buddies Craft Fair and Vendor Expo is June 12 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. The VFW is located at 112 Veterans Drive SW in Cullman.
