Vergie Lucille Wilkins Mashburn, 90, of Addison, entered into rest on Monday, May 31, 2021 surrounded by friends and family in the comfort of her home.
She was born on January 31, 1931 to Frankie and Annie Moore. Vergie enjoyed crappie fishing and spending time with family. She looked forward to her annual Smoky Mountains trip, or better yet, Cade’s Cove and Paula Dean’s Restaurant, as those were her favorite places.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 from 5:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Addison. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Addison Church of God. She will lie in state from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Wilkins Private Cemetery in Addison. Pastor Rodney Ridgeway and Brother Steve Amos will officiate.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Frankie and Annie Moore; husbands: Willard Wilkins and Grover Mashburn; daughter: Gail Tyree and brothers: Tommy Moore, Oscar Moore, Doc Moore and R.V. Moore.
Vergie is survived by her son: Dewayne Wilkins and his wife Stephanie; daughters: Denise Aaron and her husband Frank, and Judy Willingham and her husband Theo; sisters: Margie Elrod and Jo Ann Wilkins. She was Mawmaw to 12 grandchildren: Kevin (Darla) Tyree, Kyle (Marla) Tyree, Tomika (Ryan) Woods, Bridgett (Steve) Amos, Laramie (Sherri) Willingham, Jeremy Willingham, Sonya (Clay) Alston, Heath (Phyllis) Wright, Scottie (Jodie) Wilkins, Shannon (Megan) Wilkins, Emma Willingham and Andrew Aaron; 27 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren and three on the way and a host of special nieces and nephews.
