Obituary: Roosevelt “Ray” Smith

Roosevelt “Ray” Smith, 80, of Cullman, passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2021. He was born November 24, 1940, to Theodore Roosevelt and Wilma Lorine Fulmer Smith.

Mr. Smith served his country honorably for over 20 years in the United States Air Force. Among his many duties as an airman, Ray had the honor of flying Air Force One with President Humphrey, President Johnson and President Nixon. After his many years of service to our nation and its people, Ray returned to Alabama and was employed by Intergraph, located in Huntsville, Alabama.

Mr. Smith is preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Jerry Smith and Tommy Smith.

Ray is survived by his wife: Donna Smith; sons: Terry (Becky) Smith, Gary (Patricia) Smith; brothers: Billy (Vicky) Smith, Donnie Smith, Ricky (Betty) Smith, Ted (Brenda) Smith; sister: Luette Williams; grandchildren: Amber Briner, Jared (Becky) Smith, Matthew (Tiffany) Martin; 10 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services for Mr. Smith are 1 p.m., Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at Holly Pond Cemetery, with Chris Alexander officiating.
