CULLMAN, Ala. – Brooke Desnoes Ballet Academy held its spring production of “Alice in Wonderland” at the Byre theater on the campus of St. Bernard Abbey Saturday, April 24. In a dance interpretation of the familiar Lewis Carroll fantasy, Alice (Natalie Myrex) followed the White Rabbit (Sidonie Desnoes) into a magical world filled with characters such as Flamingos (Brooklyn Schlosser and a team of junior dancers), the Caterpillar (Morgan Lane), the Cheshire Cat (Marie-Claire Ray) and the Queen of Hearts (Eglantine Desnoes).
After the performance, director Brooke Desnoes told The Tribune, “Sharing the love of dance is what matters to me. It is the children who matter and, as a school director and a teacher, I like to create an environment of love and respect among my dancers. Art is not a competition; the only competition is with the dancers themselves and their desire to do better every time. Not all the students I train become professional dancers, but the discipline and what they learn in the ballet studio has always helped them along the way of their studies and personal endeavors. Art is a constant work in progress and a necessity in our lives. I am delighted to share what I have learned during my career with the children and the people of our wonderful community.
