Obituary: Darrell Leon Kretzschmar

Funeral services for Darrell Leon Kretzschmar, 58, of Hanceville, Alabama will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hanceville. Burial will follow at Garden City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at Hanceville Funeral Home.

 Mr. Kretzschmar was born to Harold and Wilda (Jenkins) Kretzschmar on November 19, 1962 in Blount County, Alabama. He died at the age of 58 in Birmingham at UAB Hospital.

He was employed with Lifeguard Ambulance Service where he was a paramedic and had previously worked for Samaritan EMS and Terry’s County EMS. He was also the owner of Kretzschmar Timbers LLC. In addition to his career, he spent most of his time riding motorcycles, camping, building antique cars and spending time with his family.

 Mr. Kretzschmar was an Elder of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hanceville. The family would like to send a special ‘Thanks’ to Alabama Home Health for the excellent care provided during his illness.

 In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church Children Education Fund at 505 Commercial St, Hanceville, Alabama 35077.

 Survivors include his mother: Wilda Jenkins Kretzschmar; son: Dallas Kohl Kretzschmar; grandsons: Carsten and Zane Kretzschmar; stepdaughters: Tia Lewis and Nichole Campbell; fiancée: Debbie Koerber; her children: Katrina, Stephanie, Jon, and Jaclyn; grandchildren: Jessey, Brylea, and Ian; a young man he loved like his own son: Joseph Mize, an aunt, uncles and many friends.

 He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Leon Kretzschmar.
