Obituary: Annie “Carol” Ergle

Annie “Carol” Ergle entered into rest on Sunday, April 18, 2021 in Haleyville surrounded  by her loving family.

Carol was born on June 11, 1942 in Arley, Alabama. She was an outdoor person who grew amazing flowers and loved hummingbirds and windchimes.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Addison, where services will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 22, 2021. Brother Chris Godfrey and Brother Michael Turner will officiate. Burial will be in Netherton Cemetery in Jones Chapel.

Carol is survived by her son, Byron Key and his wife Melissa; daughters: Lisa Burns and her husband Wade and Stephanie Parrish and her husband Stan; stepchildren: Bruce and Gary Ergle; grandchildren: Amanda Key, Dustin Burns, Kasey Michael and her husband Ben, Lindsey Defoor and her husband Adam and Landon Parrish and his wife Kylie; eight great-grandchildren; one brother: Roger Dale “Rooster” Smothers; and sisters: Kathy Hampton and her husband Bill and Brenda Gilbreath and her husband Felix. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Truman Ergle; parents: Travis and Jewel Smothers; brothers: Benny Joe and Terry Smothers; and best friends Shirley Kilgo and Mavis Box.
