Peter William Schmudlach, age 72, of Auburn, Alabama passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2021.
He was born to Leslie and Carol (Gerke) Schmudlach on January 8, 1949, in Madison, Wisconsin. He graduated from Lafollette High School in 1966 and attended college for Hotel Management in Madison. On June 7, 1969, he married Ruth Gray, and together they had three children. He had a long career in hotel and restaurant management in multiple southern states, but eventually settled in Cullman, Alabama. Pete had a soft spot in his heart for abandoned animals and cared for many dogs over the years. He also enjoyed collecting different kinds of memorabilia. He will be remembered for his wry sense of humor and quick wit and will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his father Les and mother Carol.
He is survived by his children: Lisa (Dennis) Carroll (Asheville, NC), Troy Schmudlach (Cocoa Beach, FL), and Ryan (Stephanie) Schmudlach (Columbus, GA); five grandchildren: Aiden, Alex, Jacob, Zain, and Rosie; his brother: Steven (Rita) Schmudlach (Cross Plains); two nephews: Paul (Candice), Erik; great-nephew: Cooper and his former wife Ruth.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
