Celebrate Earth Day with Author Dr. Bill Deutsch, cofounder of Alabama Water Watch, for the North Alabama Agriplex Lunch and Learn Series

Cullman, Ala. –   The North Alabama Agriplex, a local nonprofit dedicated to educating and promoting Alabama’s agriculture and future sustainability, is hosting a special guest lecturer for Earth Day this year!  On Wednesday, April 21, Dr. Bill Deutsch, the author of Alabama Rivers, a Celebration and Challenge, will present an author talk on his book as well as the celebration of the environmental movement in Alabama.  This is a free program with no registration needed. Bring your own lunch and drink! 

Dr. Deutsch will be signing copies of the book, which will also be there for sale.  Pricing will be $24 for softcover and $26 for hardcover of Rivers of Alabama.   

 This presentation will cover the natural and anthropological history of rivers in Alabama, including the origin of the river map on the Alabama Great Seal, Alabama River geography and world-class biodiversity, the role of rivers in human settlement, economy, culture and personalizing your river ethic. Participants will be encouraged to share their river stories and to discuss topics in a relaxed and enjoyable environment.  Dr. Bill Deutsch is a Research Fellow, Emeritus in the School of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Aquatic Sciences at Auburn University. He has worked as an aquatic ecologist and river educator for 40 years. Bill co-founded and directed the Alabama Water Watch program for promoting citizen volunteer water monitoring, environmental education and improved water policies.
