TROY, UNIVERSITY, Ala. – Sue Miller, who has twice served with the Peace Corps, will discuss “The Peace Corps at Sixty” in a virtual presentation to the Alabama World Affairs Council on March 30.
The event, which will be held via Zoom, will begin with a log-on and social time at 5:30 p.m., followed by the introduction of the speaker at 5:50 p.m. and the presentation at 6 p.m. Zoom link, meeting ID and password will be sent via email to advance registrants. Miller is a foreign assistance expert with 20 years of experience in designing policy and strategy for development and humanitarian assistance programs in Latin America, the Former Soviet Union, Asia and Africa. She has implemented large foreign assistance programs for the U.S. Department of State, Peace Corps, the U.S. Agency for International Development, a development consulting firm and non-profit organizations.
Miller served the Peace Corps in Russia and the new nation of Timor Leste before leading multi-million-dollar projects for non-profits: Global Communities, ADRA international and the Pan American Development Foundation.
She later returned to the Peace Corps, serving as the Director of Programming and Training, and Acting Country Director in the Republic of Georgia, Panama and the Philippines. In this role, Miller led teams of up to 50 staff members and oversaw the training and work of more than 700 Peace Corps volunteers.
She currently serves as the Team Lead at Dexis Consulting Group for a $30-plus million-dollar program to support the Department of State Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Office of Western Hemisphere Programs.
Miller holds a Bachelor of Arts in Cultural Studies from Huntingdon College and a Master of Public Affairs from Princeton University. She speaks Spanish, Russian and Tetum, and currently makes her home in Washington, D.C. where she exhibits her fine art photos in several galleries and juried shows in the area.
