FAIRVIEW, Ala. – Holly Pond traveled to Fairview for a varsity matchup with the Lady Aggies Tuesday afternoon and both teams clashed for a tight, seven inning thriller that came down to the final half inning. Trailing 6-2 going into the bottom of the seventh, Fairview scored four runs in the inning to tie things up before Emma Garcia scored on a passed ball to give the Lady Aggies a 7-6 come from behind win over Holly Pond.
Holly Pond led off the game with back to back singles from Samantha Giles and Aubrey Armstrong and both of them later scored on an error to give the Lady Broncos a 2-0 lead after the opening frame. The Lady Aggies were able to trim the lead to 2-1 with an RBI groundout from Deavan Fulmer in the bottom of the first but Holly Pond maintained a 1-run advantage going into the second.
After a scoreless second inning, Fairview tied it up in the bottom of the third when another RBI groundout by Fulmer allowed Kyliegh Aleman to score and make it a 2-2 game. Both teams were scoreless in the fourth inning, but the Lady Broncos moved back in front in the fifth. A 2-run bomb over the left field fence by Madyson Rickman gave Holly Pond a 4-2 lead after the fifth.
Kaylee Stallings blasted a solo homerun in the top of the sixth to stretch the lead to 5-2 and the Lady Broncos got a little more insurance in the seventh when Taylor Simmons scored on an RBI groundout from Brooke Hill and made it 6-2 going into the final frame. However, the Lady Aggies weren’t ready to let this one slip away and their bats got hot in the bottom of the seventh. After an error and two hit batters allowed one run to cross the plate and cut the lead to 6-3, Fulmer drove in another run with an RBI double to make it 6-4. One pitch later, Emma Garcia drove a 2-run single into left field to score Kloie Watson and Fulmer, tying the game at 6. After hits from Kaitlyn Benson and Emma Roberts loaded the bases, Garcia sprinted to the plate and scored on a passed ball to left Fairview to a 7-6 win over the Lady Broncos.
Fulmer (one hit) posted three RBIs in the win. Garcia finished with a pair of hits and drove in a pair of runs Aleman, Benson and Roberts each added hits as well.
The Lady Broncos posted 12 hits in the loss, led by Cidney Hays who finished with three. Stallings (two hits) led the way with three RBIs and Rickman posted a pair of hits and RBIs as well. Taylor Simmons added two hits for Holly Pond.

Cullman 6 – Lawrence County 1 (softball)
The Lady Bearcats stayed hot on the road against Lawrence County Tuesday night, extending their win streak to six games with a 6-1 win. Chalea Clemmons tossed all seven innings for Cullman, allowing no earned runs on four hits and striking out 12 batters.
Clemmons (solo HR) also added two hits and an RBI in the win and Faith Guest led the way for the Lady Bearcats offensively with a pair of hits and four RBIs. Shana Guest (one hit) drove in a run for Cullman as well.
Curry 9 – Good Hope 1 (game one) (baseball)
The Raiders’ offense was held in check for the most part on the road against Curry Tuesday night. Good Hope was held to just one run on five hits in a 9-1 game one loss to the Yellow Jackets.
Lane Speegle posted a pair of hits in the loss and Braxton Marshall (one RBI), Morgan Cook and Caleb Rusk each added hits as well.
