CULLMAN, Ala. – If you like Southern comedy, Cullman Caring for Kids (CCK) has a special treat for you! The child advocacy agency, best known for its high-traffic food pantry, will hold a fundraising event and food drive at its office and food pantry located at 402 Arnold St. NE in Cullman, on Wednesday, March 31 from noon–3 p.m., featuring Munford, Alabama-based stand–up comedian Darren Knight, well known to internet audiences for his “Southern Momma” videos. Knight will be joined by fellow comedians “Red Squirrel” and Gary Cargal.
According to his website, Knight “is the fastest rising comedian in American history. Variety magazine picked Darren as 10 Comics to Watch in 2018. He has cultivated a massive online presence, accumulating over a billion views across multiple social media platforms. Darren has been performing on stage for 4 years, selling out theatres and casinos nationwide. He’s been compared to Jeff Foxworthy as the next star of redneck comedy.”
Will pose for cans!
Folks are encouraged to stop by and bring canned goods for the CCK food pantry. To support its drive, if you bring at least 20 cans, you can have your picture taken with the comedy team.
A release from CCK read, “Join us for a day of fun, laughter, and a mission to help feed hungry children.”
Always a need
CCK Executive Director Javon Daniel told The Tribune that, in addition to canned goods, the food pantry has a constant need for dry beans and rice, as well as popular children’s cereals that seem to leave CCK as fast as donors bring them in.
