ADDISON, Ala. — The Addison Lady Bulldogs hosted their Cross-county rivals, the Lynn Lady Bears in a chilly late afternoon softball game. The Lady Bulldogs came away with a run ruled 5 inning victory 14-2.

The Lady Bulldogs had Anna Grace “The Glove” Luker on the mound and the first inning proved to be her toughest test of the night. Luker sandwiched a walk between two outs when Lynn junior Sadie Tittle singled scoring a run.  Lynn Senior Brianna Barton followed Tittle’s hit with a double, putting runners on second and third with two outs. Luker, with her trademark scowl, hunkered down and struck out the next batter stranding both runners. After one-half inning Lynn led 1-0.

The home half of the first had the Baby Bulldogs striking right back. Five of the first six Lady Bulldogs walked plating two runs. After a Lynn fielding error, Cara Bollinger singled, bringing home the fourth Dawg run of the inning. The first inning, full of action, had Addison leading 4-1.

Addison scored two more in the second inning when Senior Madison “Pudding” Aderholt singled home Makayla Wilkins. Sophomore Lexie “Toot” Luker singled home her cousin, Anna Grace Luker bringing home the second run of the inning giving Addison a 6-1 lead after two.

The third inning had Lynn trying their best to get back into the game. “The Glove” gave up a two out double to Ashely Aldridge and Aldridge crossed the plate when the next batter reached on an error. Luker got out of the inning giving up the unearned run which cut the Bulldog lead to 6-2.

The red-hot Baby Bulldog bats answered right back in their half of the third inning. The inning started with a Bollinger walk, followed by a fielder’s choice and a Bear error. This put runners on first and second with one out.  Dacey Baker singled bringing home Wilkins. Another Bear error plated another Dawg run making the score 8-2. “Toot” Luker lined a single to center bringing home Baker making the score 9-2. Addison left two on base to end the inning but held a commanding 9-2 lead going into the fourth inning.

After a 1-2-3 top of the fourth, Addison salted the game away with a five-run bottom of the fourth. A leadoff single by Josie Riddle was followed by a strikeout.  Wilkins singled and that was followed by Anna Grace doubling home Riddle to put Addison up 10-2. Dacey Baker singled in Wilkins and Luker putting the Baby Dawgs up 12-2. One out later, “Toot” walked and that was followed by a Saige Carter single bringing home Baker and “Toot”. The inning ended with Addison up 14-2.

The top of the fifth had Lynn get two runners on base, but they were unable to stave off the mercy rule as Addison took the game, 14-2.

Lynn was led by Ashley Aldridge who had a walk and a double. Sadie Tittle had a single.

Addison was led by “The Glove” Luker on the mound who went five innings giving up three hits, an earned run, two walks and five strikeouts.

Baby Bulldog hitters were Wilkins who was 1-3 with three runs scored and a walk. “Glove” Luker was 2-3 with a double, walk, four runs scored and an RBI.  “Pudding” Aderholt was 1-3, with a walk, an RBI and two runs scored. Dacey Baker was 2-4 with 3 RBIS and two runs scored. “Toot” Luker went 2-2 with two walks, two runs scored and two RBIs.  Carter led the team with three hits going 3-3 with a walk and 4 RBIS. Riddle went 1-3 with a run scored. Bollinger went 1-2 with a walk.

Addison Coach Lana Hines stated, “Very proud of our team. They didn’t let a few mistakes get them down. We played pretty solid defense and we were able to take advantage of the opportunities that were given to us during the game. We came up with some timely hits and worked the count. Our entire team is swinging the bat pretty well right now. We just need to keep improving and playing good ball.”

Addison improves to 6-2 on the season with the win.
