FAIRVIEW, Ala. – The Lady Aggies hit the field their home opener against J.B. Pennington Tuesday night and after the Lady Tigers made it a 1-run game in the third inning, Fairview plated seven runs in the fourth to take control and eventually pulled away to win it 14-4 in five innings. Ayda Payne got the start and the win in the circle for the Lady Aggies, allowing four runs on four hits and striking out four batters.

Pennington went three up, three down in the top of the first and Fairview went to the plate of the bottom half of the inning. The leadoff hitter, Kloie Watson, was hit by a pitch to give the Lady Aggies a base runner and after a sacrifice bunt by Savannah Bryson, Kaitlyn Benson drove Watson home with an RBI single to make it 1-0. Fairview couldn’t get any more runs on the board in the first but after Payne collected three quick outs in the top of the second, the Lady Aggies went right back to work.

A leadoff single from Emma Roberts got the second inning started with another base runner and Sydni Hall reached first on an error to give Fairview a pair of runners with one out. Bryson drew a walk to load the bases with two outs for Deavan Fulmer and she drilled a single into left field to score two more runs and make it a 3-0 game. The Lady Tiges got the third out of the inning on the bases after the runs scored and we went to the third with the Lady Aggies on top 3-0.

Pennington found some offensive success in the top of third, plating a pair of runs to make it a 3-2 game but Payne ended the inning with her second strikeout of the night to prevent any further damage. The Lady Aggies weren’t able to get on the board in the bottom of the third inning but the fourth is when Fairview found its rhythm and began to pull away.

After Hall reached base on an error, Reagan Dunkin singled into left field to give the Lady Aggies a pair of runners with one out. Bryson singled up the middle to score Hall and stretch the lead to 4-2 and two pitches later, Fulmer put a 3-run bomb over the left field fence to put Fairview on top 7-2. A walk from Benson, a single by Emma Garcia and another walk from Kyleigh Aleman loaded the bases for the Lady Aggies and Payne drove a 2-run single up the middle to make it a 9-2 game. Aleman scored on an error in the outfield to give Fairview a 10-2 lead and we went into the fifth leading by eight.

An error and an RBI single allowed Pennington to score two more runs in the top of the fifth and trim the lead to 10-4 but the Lady Aggies got those runs back and then some in their half of the inning. After Bryson reached on an error and Fulmer and Garcia each drew a walk to load the bases, Aleman singled up the middle to score Bryson and Fulmer, making it 12-4. After a pop out gave the Lady Tigers two outs, Payne officially put things away with a 2-run single into left field that ended the game in five innings and secured a 14-4 win for Fairview.

Fulmer racked up five RBIs for the Lady Aggies after drilling a 2-run single and a 3-run homer in the win. Payne finished just behind her with four RBIs after going 2 for 4 at the plate and Aleman drove in a pair of runs of her own. Bryson and Benson each added RBIs in the win as well.

Fairview is scheduled to be back in action Thursday night on the road at Vinemont.
