ADDISON, Ala. — Addison hosted the Belgreen Bulldogs on a rainy, muddy field at Alexander Park in Addison, Alabama for an early season softball game. Addison came away with an impressive run-ruled win in a five-inning game by the score of 11-1.

Addison started the game off with their Ace on the mound in Junior Anna Grace “The Glove” Luker. Anna Grace shut down Belgreen with two strikeouts in the inning. The Baby Bulldogs started their half of the first inning with a bang. After one out, Anna Grace singled to center and a batter later, Madison “Pudding” Aderholt crushed a pitch to dead center field for a two-run home run. This put Addison up 2-0 after one.

An easy top of the second inning had Belgreen going scoreless. The Baby Bulldogs absolutely opened up the flood gates and put the game away with a great second inning by batting around, sending eleven women to the plate. The inning started simply enough by Belgreen committing an error then two outs later, it began. Josie Riddle walked then Macayla Wilkins doubled bringing home Saige Carter. Anna Grace then launched a towering homerun over the left field fence for a three-run bomb. This made the score Addison 6-0 and they weren’t done. Dacey Baker doubled and that was followed by “Pudding” Aderholt doubling as well bringing in Baker. Lexi Luker then roped a shot down the first base line for a single bringing home Aderholt for an 8-0 lead. Another Belgreen error gave the Dawgs another run, and the inning mercifully ended one batter later as Addison had taken a commanding 9-0 lead through two innings.

Belgreen picked up a run on a two out single in the fourth inning to cut the lead to 9-1 going into the home half of the inning. Addison got the run back on a fielder’s choice by Saige Carter bringing home Aderholt.

In the bottom of the fifth, Addison secured the mercy rule when Dacey Baker singled home Josie Riddle for the ten-run rule win. Addison won 11-1 and improved to 5-1 on the young season. This was Belgreen’s first game of the year and it showed as they committed four errors.

Addison was led by “Pudding” Aderholt who had 2 hits (1 HR), 2 runs scored and three RBIs. Anna Grace Luker had two hits (1 HR), scored two runs and three RBIs. Dacey Baker led the team with three hits, one run scored with an RBI. Lexi Luker had two hits and a run scored. Riddle had one hit and two runs scored.

Anna Grace Luker got the complete game win pitching five innings, allowing one run on four hits. Luker had four strikeouts and only one walk.

After the game, Addison Head Coach Lana Hines said, “We played great defense today. We made the routine plays as well as a couple great ones. Everyone contributed today especially with the bats. I mean we hit our first two home runs of the year today and they came from Madison (Aderholt) and Anna Grace (Luker). Those are two of our girls that we expect to produce those kinds of hits. Very happy how we are playing right now.”

The Addison Bulldogs will host Phil Campbell on Thursday so come out and support the young bulldogs.
