The FAA has identified the aircraft as a Piper PA-32.

A preliminary statement from the FAA said, “A general aviation aircraft crashed in the woods near the Cullman Regional Airport-Folsom Field in Vinemont, Ala., at 6 p.m. local time today. The aircraft caught on fire and the aircraft type has not been determined. Two people were aboard and local authorities will release their names and medical conditions. The FAA will investigate. The NTSB will determine the probable cause of the accident.”

Cullman County Coroner Jeremy L. Kilpatrick has confirmed one person is dead. Another person is injured. There were only two people in the plane.


SOUTH VINEMONT, Ala. – Authorities are on the scene of a plane crash near Cullman Regional Airport just south of County Road 1371 and County Road 1360.

Investigators from the FAA are on the scene.

Please avoid the area.
