CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman County Animal Shelter has love to spare right now, so Donna Ruttkay shares a bonus Cullman Tribune Pet of the Week:
Opossum is a 1.75-2-year-old yellow lab mix. She has tiny ears due to an early medical condition; they don’t bother her, but they do give her an endearing cuteness. She’s well-behaved and responds enthusiastically to human attention. With a little encouragement, she will freely take to the shelter’s obstacle course to play, then likes to curl up with her folks when it’s time to relax.
Opossum has the makings of a good reading, companion or therapy dog.
Opossum’s adoption fee is $100 which includes DHLPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccines, rabies vaccine, wormer, general exam at the vet, spaying, microchip, free 30-day health insurance policy issued by 24PetWatch (with valid email only) and a free bag of food from Cullman Pet Depot (you must pay sales tax).
Animal shelter staff and volunteers work with their dogs to make sure they are accustomed to being around people, walking on a leash and practicing good behavior. Several of the shelter’s canine friends have even been “hired” to work as therapy and special needs service dogs.
Please consider adopting, to give a rescued pet a chance at a happy and healthy life.
