Funeral services for Richard Ernest Thiot, Sr., 87, of Vinemont will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2021 at Cullman Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Cullman City Cemetery, Rev. John Garrison officiating. Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Cullman Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Thiot passed away Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021 at his residence. He was born July 11, 1933 to Richard Claude and Eunice Sidney Westmoreland Thiot.
He served his country in the United States Coast Guard in the Korean War and in the Air Force in the Vietnam War and retired as captain.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Martha Ann Thiot Ford.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Phyllis Sims Thiot; sons Richard (Debbie) Thiot, Jr. and David (Stacy) Thiot; daughter Desiree (Joe) Thiot Pace; brother-in-law David (Cordia) Sims; grandchildren Stephanie Pace, Jenee (Charles) Lee, Joey (Anna) Pace, Anthony (Beka) Pace, Lauren Thiot, Jennifer (Jay) Schlosser, Eric (Niki) Bailey, Stephanie (Jason) McClendon, Jasmine Mullet, Laura Mullet, Jacob Thiot, and Jessica Thiot; great-grandchildren Charles Lee, Anthony Lee, Ryan Lee, Stella Pace, Lyla Pace, Talyn McClendon, and Jasper Long; and family and friends.
