Rev. Melvin Donald Cordes, 82, of Chattanooga, formerly of Cullman, AL, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jan. 31, 2021.
He was born Dec. 11, 1938 in Cullman to the late Herbert and Agnes Cordes.
He was a graduate of Hanceville High School and served honorably in the United States Air Force. Mr. Cordes retired from Toledo Scale Company as a Region Manager after many years of service.
Rev. Cordes completed his ministerial training at Grace Baptist Church in Decatur, AL and went on to pastor Trinity Baptist Church in Cullman, AL for 15 years. He was currently a member of Stuart Heights Baptist Church in Hixson, TN.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Martha Cordes; his son Keven Cordes; and his brother Ernest Cordes.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law Chris and Lisa Cordes of Chattanooga, TN; daughter and son-in-law Heather and Josh Teis of Las Vegas, NV; sister Lucille Looney of Decatur, AL; sister-in-law Lea Cordes of Cullman, AL; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Sunday, Feb. 7, 2021 from 5-8 p.m. at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday, Feb. 8, 2021 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Cullman Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Cordes and Rev. Josh Teis officiating.
