Obituary: Joan Elaine Little Woods

Joan Elaine Little Woods passed away Jan. 28, 2021 at the age of 76 at Huntsville Hospital CVICU. Joan was the daughter of Talmadge L. Little and Hazel Bernice Hogan Little of Cullman. She was born Feb. 14, 1944 in Cullman County, Alabama. She is the fourth of five children.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Morris Cranson “Bud” Woods; daughters Roxanne (Roger) Asherbranner and Dueese Speegle; son Reno Bowman Woods; grandsons Lee Cranson (Mary Beth) Asherbranner and Chance Keith (Mellicha) Asherbranner; great-grandchildren Eli Cranson Asherbranner and Cheyenne Elizabeth Asherbranner; sisters Lavina Little, Nina Alger, and Gaye (Johnny) Freeman; brother Clayton Little; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Joan and her husband, Bud, were married Feb. 25, 1961 and would have been married for 60 years in February.

Joan was a good Christian lady, and she loved the Lord with all her heart. She loved singing, especially singing with the Corinth Singers Kathryn Maddox, Linda Walker, Mickey Westmoreland, and Effie Braswell. It later included Carol Woods and Joan’s daughter Roxanne Asherbranner. She loved her family and was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Visitation starts Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021 at 4 p.m. at Corinth First Congregational Methodist Church and will conclude Monday, Feb. 1, 2021 at noon when the funeral service begins.  Brother Wayne Jetton and Brother Greg Standridge will officiate. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
