CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman County Commission on Friday morning recognized all those who worked together to make the 2020 Winter Wonderland at Sportsman Lake Park a success. In a year that has been especially difficult for area seniors, the Commission, along with the Cullman County Commission on Aging, held special nights when seniors could enjoy the park’s lights for free.
Commissioner Garry Marchman reminded those being recognized, “We are all part of the same team. We really are. It doesn’t matter if you are sitting in the chairman position or if you are dumping trash cans at the park. We are part of the same team.”
Employees from the Commission on Aging, Cullman County Parks and Recreation, City of Cullman, Sportsman Lake Park, Stony Lonesome OHV and Smith Lake Park were all recognized.
“I think I tell you all the time, we have the best County employees. I’d put our employees against anyone in the county. I think we have the best county in the state, and when you have the employees we have, it makes me proud to have people like you representing our county and I appreciate all of you,” Commissioner Kerry Watson added.
The City of Cullman donated for senior nights. Stephanie Neal and Karla Pitts were recognized for helping bag and pass out candy to the seniors who visited Winter Wonderland.
