Obituary: Gladys E. Cagle

With heavy hearts we announce the death of Gladys E. Cagle.  Ms. Cagle passed away Dec. 25, 2020, surrounded by her family. Born Dec. 1, 1930 in Cullman, AL to Howard A. Tapscott and Lora Mae Gertsman Tapscott. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  Ms. Cagle grew up in the Cullman area and remained here her entire life.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother Raymond Hanvey; one grandchild Spencer Warren; and one great-grandchild Emily White.

She is survived by four children Judy Barker of Hanceville, Jill Powe (Randy) of Hanceville, David Hanvey (Susan) of Huntsville, and Jennifer Kuykendall (Jody) of Hanceville; and sisters Elizabeth Hasler and Francis (Ernest) Auston.

She is also survived by her grandchildren Wesley Cofield (Jamie), Phillip Cofield (Brooke), Kim Tubbs, Amanda Campbell (Chris), Kelley Burgess (Adam), Jaime Sweeney (Nathan), Christen Martin (Wes), Josh Hanvey, Elizabeth Robertson (Jeffrey), Matthew Hanvey (Wundee), Samuel Hanvey, and Abigail Hanvey; great-grandchildren Tarrant White, Lexis White, Emmy Reynolds, Kimberly Welch (Zeph), Samantha McAnear, Ashley Cofield, Noah Cofield, Violet Cofield, Ashli Burgess, Dylan Burgess, Kaitlyn Cofield, Weston Cofield (Tara), Selitia Garner (Heath), Zachery Hale, Parker Campbell, Payton Campbell, Addyson Burgess, Canaan Burgess, Lakyn Burgess, Ellie Sweeney, Tristan Hanvey, Destiny Hanvey, Collin Milligan, Theo Hanvey, Thomas Hanvey, and Tyler Grace; and great-great-grandchildren Z.J. Welch, Koda Welch, Kori Welch, Coltin McAnear, Tuff McAnear, Wyatt McAnear, Lilyann McAnear, Phillip McAnear, Ruby Blackmon, Marilyn Blackmon, Kirra Garner, Reece Garner, Layla Hale and Karter Hale.

The family would like to thank the nurses, CNAs, and entire staff at Hanceville Nursing Home for the love and care they have given our mother.

Funeral services will be held at Moss Service Funeral Home Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020 at 2 p.m.

Viewing will be from noon-2 p.m. with services in the chapel and burial at City Cemetery.  If desired, friends may send flowers.
