CULLMAN, Ala. – According to the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH), Cullman County added 55 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, with 4,180 cases confirmed across the county since the beginning of the pandemic. Of those, 1,214 were confirmed in just the last 14 days. Statewide, the ADPH reported 2,241 new confirmed cases in the last 24 hours, with 49,244 in the last 14 days.
The ADPH also reported 2,353 patients currently hospitalized across the state.

The Alabama Department of Public Health processed backlogs of 59 positive PCR and 479 antigen results from multiple facilities on December 14, 2020. Case numbers generated from these reports are classified as confirmed, if PCR, or probable, if antigen. Cases in these backlogs were from September 29 through December 12. Processing backlogs does not impact the ADPH COVID-19 Risk Indicator Dashboard. For information regarding daily numbers and the 7-day moving average of cases by infectious date, see TAB 7A. Information on TAB 7A visualizes cases by date of infection rather than date reported. Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2020 update from Cullman Regional
In a virtual press conference Tuesday morning, Cullman Regional Chief Medical Officer Dr. William Smith said the hospital is currently treating 61 COVID-19 patients, with 15 on ventilators right now. The hospital’s Critical Care Unit has 12 beds, so additional beds are in use. In all, the hospital has 145 beds, and 139 are occupied.
