CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman City Council on Monday evening finished out its calendar year by presenting Dr. Scott Warner a resolution of commendation for his service to the city throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Warner, who works for Chest Medicine of Cullman in addition to being a reserve police officer and holding other responsibilities, has advised City officials on how to handle employee sickness and exposure, and has provided information updates for the public throughout the pandemic.
Mayor Woody Jacobs told The Tribune, “He has been kind of our- we call him about three different things- but he’s been our chief medical advisor on this whole pandemic. When we have questions about close contact or quarantine, or whatever, he’s our go-to guy.”
The council meeting actually had an empty business agenda for its last meeting of the year, but Jacobs, who asked for Warner’s help at the outset of the pandemic back in the spring, wanted to take a moment before the holiday break to thank his advisor.
Said Jacobs, “I hated for the holidays to pass and us not thank him, because we’re not through.”
As he accepted the commendation, Warner told the council and small audience, “This is something where my expertise comes to bear, and I really appreciate the opportunity to do it, and hopefully provide good advice, good care, so that we can get through this with the least amount of casualties as possible.”
