WEST POINT, Ala. – Alabama State Troopers on Saturday, Dec. 12 at approximately 8 a.m. will close all four lanes (both directions) of Alabama Highway 157 between the 9000 and 10000 blocks for an investigation into the fatal crash that occurred Saturday, Dec. 5 in front of Foley Products.

Background:

A vehicle striking a power line at approximately 5:40 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 5 along the 9400 block of Alabama Highway 157 in front of Foley Products in Cullman County led to the death of a pedestrian who was moments before involved in a single-vehicle crash.

According to Alabama State Troopers, Chloe Camille Williamson, 20, of Vestavia Hills, was killed when she was struck by a utility pole. Williams was initially involved in a single-vehicle crash in which her vehicle, moments earlier, struck the same utility pole, damaging the supporting guide wire. As a result, the power line which the utility was supporting dropped across the roadway. Williams then exited her vehicle after the crash and was standing near the shoulder of the roadway when a second vehicle struck the power line, breaking the utility pole and causing the broken pole to strike her.

Williams was pronounced dead at the scene.

The second vehicle that struck the power line remains unidentified. ALEA Troopers are requesting anyone with any information regarding this crash please contact the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency-Decatur Post at 256-353-0631.

Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate. Nothing further is available at this time.
