CULLMAN, Ala. – 4D Farm’s “Country Christmas” opens this Saturday, Dec. 5, and the staff is busy putting the finishing touches on the lights and decorations. This will be a first for the popular family attraction as it welcomes visitors for the holiday season. The farm is full of games, activities, food, sweets, rides, and of course, farm animals.
Owner Beth Daniel gave the Tribune a tour of what is in store for visitors this Christmas.
“With this being our first year, it’s hard to compete with all the traditional light shows,” she said. “We have lights, but we have included some different things including hay bales and farm equipment with our lights. It really is a country Christmas and we have tried to be very creative.”
The farm has something for everyone. Most of the farm’s normal attractions will be open, as well as Santa’s Barn, where Santa will be available for families to take pictures.
Next to Santa’s Barn is the vintage roller coaster with unlimited rides.
Daniel explained, “This roller coaster is a 1952 Allan Herschell vintage coaster.”
Special for Christmas, rides on the mechanical bull will also be included with the price of admission.
Daniel introduced us to the Barnstormer Tubing Slide, a unique attraction that takes riders zooming down the hill on inner tubes.
“To me it is so fun for children who live in Alabama and don’t have the opportunity to go snow tubing very often,” Daniel smiled. “That’s my favorite thing.”
The Black Mamba Slide and Lane’s Landsliiide will be open for the Country Christmas.
Other 4D Farm favorites including the Jumping Pillow, Low Ropes Obstacle Course, PlayBarn, Pony Rides, Gemstone Mine, Ziplines and Barnyard BallZone will also be available.
Several shops will be open selling treats and hot chocolate or cider, including MayBelle’s Bakery and Gift Shop with fudge and souvenirs.
If it’s Christmas lights you are hoping to see, 4D Farm’s got em’! The park is beautifully decorated, and sleigh rides will take visitors on the Country Christmas Light Trail. For those not comfortable with a sleigh ride, don’t worry, visitors can opt to drive their own vehicles. The Daniels have incorporated farm equipment and hay bales along with traditional lights and displays to create a whimsical and unique Christmas light display.
The cost of admission to the Country Christmas is $14.95 + tax per person and includes the attractions and the light trail. For $5, treat cards are also available for purchase- they include treat kits as well as feed for the farm animals. For those just wanting to drive through the Country Christmas Light Trail, the cost is $10 per vehicle.
Social distancing at the farm should not be a problem. The attractions are spread out, and the farm is a large area which allows for families to stay distanced. Masks are encouraged.
4D Farm is located at 7182 County Road 703 in Cullman. The farm will be open from 3-9 p.m. Friday-Sunday from Dec. 5-20. The drive-thru light show is open Wednesday-Sunday from 5-9 p.m.
