Funeral services for Joseph Wayne Bobo, 75, of Hanceville will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2020 at Mt. Joy Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Charles Johnson, Rev. Steve Rodgers, and Rev. Junior Wolfe, along with the current and former pastors sharing memories. The body will lie in state at the church Tuesday from 1-2 p.m. Visitation will be Monday evening at the church from 5:30-9 p.m.

Wayne passed away Friday, Oct.30, 2020. He was born April 17, 1945 to Jasper Samuel and Della Madison Bobo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his granddaughter Kinley Grace Bobo; and brother Wesley Bobo.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Launa Rice Bobo; son Shaun (Stacey) Bobo; daughter Shannon (Jonathan) Ary; brothers Ronnie (Evelene) Bobo and Donald Bobo; grandchildren Braxton (Gara) Clifton, Katelyn Ary, and Hanna Bobo; and a host of family and friends.
He was a devoted, loving husband, father, and grandfather and the patriarch of our family for 53 years. He always had a smile on his face, always positive, optimistic and easy going. You could always find him reading the Bible, or other biblical literature.
He worked hard for his family and retired from Maxwell House Coffee company after 26 years.
He loved music- Southern gospel, congregational red book hymnal singing and bluegrass gospel. He loved playing the guitar and banjo and passed on his love of music to all of his children and grandchildren, and each one of them plays a musical instrument today.
He passed on his love of people, music, and ability to never meet a stranger to his daughter. He loved woodworking and passed that hobby on to his son and grandson. He loved to cut up and have fun and pick at his granddaughter and step-granddaughter, but mostly he taught us and others what it means to love and serve the Lord.
He was a member of Mt. Joy Missionary Baptist church for 48 years where he was a Deacon and a Sunday school teacher for 47 years, and the Music Director for 40 years.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
The family would like to express its gratitude to the VA Medical Center, the MICU staff, the oncology staff, and especially the GI team who went above and beyond the call of duty time and time again to provide exemplary care. We would also like to thank the Mt. Joy Missionary Baptist Church community, friends, and family for their support, love, and prayers throughout all the good years as well as the difficult ones during his illness. Words cannot express how deeply thankful we are for each and every one of you and we can never thank you enough.
Pallbearers will be Braxton Clifton, Kyle Rice, David Rice, Scott Windsor, Jeremy Rice, and Michael Rice.
