SPRINGVILLE, Ala. – The Arabian Knights made the trip over to Springville to face the Tigers Friday night and after a slow start for both offenses, the scoreboard lit up in the second half but it was the Tigers that managed to come out of it with a 35-34 upset victory over the Knights.
The first quarter ended with both teams knotted at 7 but Springville pulled ahead 14-7 early in the second. However, Arab was able to get on the board again and tie things up at 14 going into the halftime break.
The second half is when things started getting exciting. The Tigers scored to move in front 20-14 but the Knights answered quickly with another score of their own to pull ahead 21-20 by the start of the fourth quarter. Arab tacked on another touchdown early in the fourth to stretch the lead to 28-20 and found the end zone again to add to the lead. However, a missed extra point held the lead to 34-20 midway through the fourth.
Springville began to rally, cutting the lead to 34-28 with less than five minutes to play and the Tigers found the end zone once again late in the fourth quarter to pull ahead 35-34. Arab began to drive for a chance to win the game, but an interception cut the drive short and secured the 35-34 win for Springville.
Arab falls to 4-5 with the loss but is still safely in the postseason with their position in the region standings.
