Betty Nell Smothers, 76, of Arley entered into rest Monday, Oct. 19, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Betty was born Feb. 29, 1944 in Cullman County. She was a very giving person and loved quilting, canning, journaling and was an avid reader, especially the Bible. She was a member of Nesmith Church.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Oct. 22, 2020 from noon-2 p.m. at Nesmith Church, where the service will be held at 2 p.m. Brother Steton Hayes and Brother Donnie Jones will officiate. Burial will follow in Sardis #2 Baptist Church Cemetery.
Betty is survived by her husband Roger “Rooster” Smothers; daughter Sherry (John) Brown; granddaughter Amber (Kevin) Robinson; grandson Shannon (Lindsey) Bryant; granddaughter Rachel (Allen) Coughanour; great-grandchildren Connor Robinson, Braxton Bryant, Lilly Kate Bryant, Scarlet Coughanour and Alice Coughanour; and special cousin Wanda (Donnie) Jones.
She was preceded in death by her parents Marvin Pitts and Helen Demonia Pitts; son Bruce Carlton Pigg; and sister Peggy Miller.
