The Cullman County Sheriff’s Office on Monday said two people were arrested in connection with a stabbing Saturday night in Bremen.

Heather Schlecta, 33, of Bremen is charged with third-degree domestic violence. James Melville Schlecta, 43, of Bremen is charged with two counts of first-degree assault and third-degree domestic violence.

“I would like to thank the deputies and investigators for a quick response that led to the arrest of these two individuals,” said Sheriff Matt Gentry.


BREMEN, Ala. – One person was stabbed in what authorities are calling a domestic incident in the Cold Springs community Saturday evening.

An Air Evac Lifeteam helicopter landed near the scene to transport the victim, who has not been identified, to an area hospital.

The Bremen, Cold Springs and Arkadelphia Volunteer Fire Departments responded, along with the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).

The CCSO said in a statement late Saturday evening:
 
“Late this evening, Saturday, Oct 17, there was a domestic incident in the Cold Springs community. Cullman County Sheriff’s Office deputies and investigators responded to the scene. 
 
“One person has been transported to a regional hospital due to a stab wound. 
 
“CCSO deputies and investigators are currently on scene, and this is an ongoing investigation. 
 
“This is an isolated domestic incident and there is no danger to the community. 
 
“More information will be released in the days to come.”
