ADDISON, Ala. — Addison hosted the Cold Springs Eagles in a pivotal Class 2A region matchup with vital playoff positioning on the line. The Dawgs were not gracious hosts as they celebrated homecoming with a dominating 50-14 win over the Eagles. It was a great night for lovely Addison sophomore Gracie Manley who was selected as the 2020 Homecoming Queen. Addison also celebrated the 50th anniversary of the 1970 State Championship team prior to kickoff.

Addison started the game forcing a three-and-out from the Eagles and then it became the Christian “Ice Man” Roberts show. Addison went seven plays and 63-yards for the score. Roberts ran it in from 36-yards out. The two-point conversion made it 8-0.

The “Dawg Pound Defense” made Eagles QB Brodi Williams’ life miserable most of the night. After forcing another punt, Roberts ran another score in from 21-yards out. At the end of the first quarter, Addison led Cold Springs 16-0.

The Dawg Defense sacked Williams two more times on the next drive, forcing another punt. Addison’s Roberts hit Justin “Rocky” Mather for a 34-yard touchdown pass and the lead expanded to 24-0.

Addison piled on two more Roberts touchdown runs of 1 yard and 13 yards to take a commanding 36-0 lead with time running out in the first half.

Cold Springs’ Jonathan Estell returned the kickoff down to the Bulldog 34-yard line. Williams then led a quick drive for a score. Williams hit WR Seth Williams for a 2-yard scoring pass. The extra point made it Addison 36, Cold Springs 7 at the half.

Cold Spring came out fired up and stuffed Addison on the opening second-half drive, forcing a punt. This is when the Dawg defense stepped up and Mark Williams sacked the quarterback forcing a fumble. Nelson “The Hammer” Hernandez recovered the ball at the Addison 42.

Addison drove down the field and the “Hammer” ran over two Eagles to score from 3 yards out. That made the score 43-7.

The next possession saw Tommy Lee Daniel make an amazing one-handed interception of the Eagle quarterback. Eagle QB Williams was running for his life all night from Dawg defenders.

The Eagles never quit, and four plays later they recovered a Roberts fumble at their own 44-yard line.

Williams responded by passing the Eagles down the field. Williams hit a beautiful 35-yard bomb to Estell and later hit Brody Peppers for an 8-yard touchdown pass. This brought the score to Addison 43, Cold Springs 14.

On Addison’s very next play, Roberts made up for his fumble with a 54-yard touchdown run. This was Roberts’ fifth touchdown run of the night. Addison led 50-14 and this is how it would end.

Addison’s defense was just too much for the Eagles this evening.
