BREMEN, Ala. – Cold Springs looked to bounce back from its first loss last week when it welcomed Falkville Friday night. A huge first-quarter deficit proved to be too much for the Eagles, however, and the Blue Devils took home a 49-13 victory.

Falkville found the end zone on just three plays on its opening possession as a 14-yard touchdown run gave them a quick 7-0 lead. Cold Springs went three-and-out on its first possession, and the Blue Devils scored on a 60-yard touchdown pass to make it 14-0. An Eagle fumble was recovered by Falkville in the end zone to make it 21-0. Cold Springs fumbled on the ensuing kickoff and the Blue Devils quickly scored on a 22-yard touchdown run to increase the deficit to 28-0 with two minutes to go in the opening quarter.

Cold Springs looked to finally move the ball on Falkville’s defense, and they got some key first downs, but the Eagles coughed the ball up once again and the Blue Devils recovered. After forcing a punt, Cold Springs went three-and-out as well, but the snap sailed through the end zone for a safety to make it 30-0 and Falkville scored the final touchdown of the first half on a 27-yard run as the Eagles went into the locker room trailing, 37-0.

Cold Springs was unable to start the second half strong and was forced to punt on its opening possession. The Blue Devils scored on a 76-yard run on the first play and stretched the deficit to 43-0. The Eagles got on the scoreboard on their next possession when Brodi Williams found Seth Williams for a 47-yard strike to make it 43-7. Falkville scored its final touchdown on a 12-yard run, and Ayden Alexander found the end zone late in the end zone on an 8-yard run to put the final score at 49-13.

Brodi Williams went 12/17 for 147 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Alexander added 57 yards on 16 carries and a touchdown for Cold Springs (3-2). Seth Williams caught two passes for 68 yards and a score. Izaiah Estell had a 71-yard reception as well.

Cold Springs will look to get back on track next week when the Eagles travel to take on Addison in a huge region game.
