FAIRVIEW, Ala. – Brewer traveled to Fairview for an area match with the Lady Aggies Thursday night and the Lady Patriots were sent home with a 3-1 area loss. Fairview got off to a fast start, taking the first two sets over Brewer to take a 2-0 lead in the match. After dropping a tight third set, the Lady Aggies bounced back and won the fourth set to finish off the Lady Patriots and collect an area win.
Fairview 25 – Brewer 18
The Lady Aggies jumped out to an early 15-7 lead in the first set and continued to stretch their lead out to 21-9. Brewer put together a big scoring run to cut into the lead, but it wasn’t enough, and Fairview held on to take the opening set 25-18.
Fairview 25 – Brewer 17
It was more of the same in the next set. The Lady Aggies took an early 4-2 lead that they eventually grew to 7-3. The Lady Patriots fought back to tie the set at 8 before taking a 12-10 lead. Fairview was then able to tie things back up at 14 and then pulled ahead to a 17-14 advantage. The run continued for the Lady Aggies as they moved ahead 21-15 and pulled away to take the second set 25-18 and go up 2-0 in the match.
Brewer 25 – Fairview 23
Brewer was able to avoid the sweep in the third set. The Lady Patriots led the way 9-4 early and eventually built up a 18-8 lead midway through the set. Fairview was able to trim the lead down to 18-16 and 21-20 at one point but Brewer was able to pull away and take the third set 25-23 to extend the match to a fourth set.
Fairview 25 – Brewer 21
Things didn’t look great for the Lady Aggies early in the fourth set. The Lady Patriots quickly jumped out to a 4-0 lead that grew to 9-3 as the set progressed. Brewer held a 14-8 advantage at one point, but Fairview took over from that point. The Lady Aggies cut the lead down to 16-12, went on to tie the set at 16 and eventually pulled ahead to take a 19-17 lead. The Lady Patriots stayed within a couple points of Fairview the rest of the way, but the Lady Aggies were still able to win the set 25-21 and take the area match 3-1.
Daisy Manasco posted 25 kills, seven digs, two aces and a block in the win and Micah Means added 38 assists, five blocks, four digs, three kills and an ace. Jacy Gorham collected nine kills, four digs, three blocks and two aces, Emma Garcia finished with four kills and two digs, Cassidy Hutchison put up four kills and four blocks and Kabri Redding added three kills and a pair of blocks. Maddie Yeager led the Lady Aggies with 14 digs followed by Kyleigh Aleman with seven.
