BRILLIANT, Ala. – Meek hit the road to kick off region play Friday night and was sent home with a 55-30 loss. The Tigers fall to 0-3 on the season with the loss.
Brilliant took an early 14-0 lead in the opening quarter but the Tigers found the end zone to stop the bleeding and cut it to 14-8. Brilliant and Meek traded scores after that, making it a 21-16 game early in the second quarter but Brilliant was able to step back in front 28-16. The Tigers scored again to make it 28-22 and pull closer before the half but Brilliant got on the board one more time before the break to take a 35-22 advantage into the locker room.
Back to back touchdowns by Brilliant stretched the lead to 48-22 midway through the third and Meek trailed by 26 at the start of the fourth quarter. Another Brilliant score made it a 55-22 game and the Tigers were able to find the end zone one more time, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the early lead and Brilliant went on to win it 55-30.
Meek will head back out on the road next Friday to take on South Lamar.
