ARAB, Ala. – After falling to Guntersville in their home opener last week, the Arab Knights returned home Friday night hoping to bounce back with a big region win. Unfortunately for the home crowd, there wasn’t a lot celebrate after senior night festivities were over. The Wildcats built an early lead in the first half and didn’t allow Arab to climb back into the game, pulling away to defeat the Knights 28-7.
Fort Payne found the end zone early in the opening quarter to take a 7-0 lead and held that lead going into the second. Another Wildcats touchdown made it a 14-0 game early in the second quarter and they were able to stretch their lead to 21-0 by halftime.
The Knights cut into the lead with a score early in the third quarter that made it 21-7 but they trailed by two touchdowns going into the final frame. Fort Payne was able to get on the board one more time to make it a 28-7 game and officially put things out of reach for Arab.
The loss drops the Knights to 1-2 so far this season and they’ll aim to bounce back next week when they travel to Scottsboro.
