Funeral services for Wilbur Dale Pettit, of Garden City, Alabama will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, 2020 at Blount Springs Baptist Church in Blount Springs, Alabama. Reverends Jeff Ingle and Thomas Graves will be officiating. The family will welcome guests for visitation beginning at 11:30 a.m. until funeral time at the church Saturday.
Mr. Pettit died at his residence at the age of 71. He is a graduate of Hanceville High School class of 1967. After graduation, Dale joined the United States Navy, serving his country for four years. He was honorably discharged and released from active duty as a Fire Control Technician (Gunfire Control) Striker Third Class. He was the owner of Top Hat BBQ for 53 years then retired in November 2019. Mr. Pettit also served as a deacon at Blount Springs Baptist Church.
Mr. Pettit is survived by his wife Vickie Pettit; children Heather (Joe) Mahaffey and Roxanne (Wade) Walker; a brother Bryce Pettit; a sister Joyce (Richard) Coggin; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Pettit is preceded in death by his parents Wilbur and Ruth (Cornelius) Pettit.
