Bill Lee “Bowevil” Gates, 78, of Double Springs passed away Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2020.
He was born March 14, 1942 in Memphis, Tennessee to William and Obie (Cassie) Gates.
He loved fishing, woodworking, hunting, cooking, and watching wrestling. Bill loved his family, especially his grandkids.
Visitation will be held Monday, Aug. 31, 2020 from noon-2 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Double Springs, where the service will begin at 2 p.m. Burial with military honors will be at Mount Ebron Cemetery. Brother Danny Page and Brother Randy Jones will officiate.
Bill is survived by his son Doyal (Thora) Gates; daughter Regina (Roger) Bard; daughter-in-law Judy Gates; 11 grandchildren Crystal Gates, Jeremy Bard, Jeremy Gates, Dustin (Destiny) Gates, Ryan (Cheyenne) Bard, Daniel Gates, Steven Hill, John Gates, Brent Gates, Brandon Bard, and Julie Gates; brothers Mike Gates and Donald Ray Gates; sisters Rosie (David) Rhodes, Mary Ann Linn, Ruth Ann Devenport, and Martha Sue Chavez; six great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Pernie Gates; son Randy Gates; father Noah Gates; mother Obie (Cassie) Gates; brothers Jimmy Ray Gates, Bobby Joe Gates, Charles Edward Gates, and Eugene Gates; and sister Gladys Mai Beeson.
