Obituary: Dwight Price Bennett

Dwight Price Bennett of Cullman passed away at his residence Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2020 at the age of 88. Dwight was born Oct. 15, 1931 to Charlie Emmett and Maddie Beulah Persall Bennett.

He was a graduate of the University of Alabama and worked in human resources in the manufacturing industry. He served in the United States Air Force. He loved to dance and was known to drink a little Jim Beam. Dwight never met a stranger and would always give you an affectionate hug. He was a sports enthusiast and a huge Alabama fan. He taught bowling lessons and managed the Cullman Bowling Alley. He loved going to the beach and always sported a great tan.

Dwight was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Faye McNeal, Betty Burger, Mary Miller, and Gail Story; and brothers Chester Bennett, Aubrey Bennett, James Bennett, and Cecil Bennett.

He is survived by wife Brenda Couch Bennett; daughters Wendy Glasscock (Carson), Leanna Macrae (Scott), and Kristi Wilson (Mike); sons Ken Bennett (Lisa), Cary Bennett (Amy), and Todd Bennett (Catherine); step-daughters Bonita Hutchinson and Bonnie (Roby) Coley; step-son Benson Clark (Valerie); 21 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Sunday, Aug. 30, 2020 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. with the Rosary Service beginning at 7:30 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be held Monday, Aug. 31, 2020 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Flint Creek Cemetery.
