CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman County Animal Shelter’s Donna Ruttkay let us know that our latest canine friend Champ was adopted! There’s plenty of love to spare at the shelter, though, so here’s a bonus Cullman Tribune Pet of the Week:

Pearl is a 1-year-old Vizsla/Setter/Lab mix who’s a lively-but-not-hyper, medium-energy pet. She has good spatial awareness, and has become a pro on her leash. She enjoys human company and will gladly take on new challenges with a little encouragement from her people.

Pearl has the makings of a good hiking or companion dog.

Ruttkay said, “She is one of the sweetest dogs. She came in without boundaries and lots of fear. However, with plenty of patience, love and consistency, Pearl is willing to do way more for you!”

Pearl’s adoption fee is $100 which includes: DHLPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccines, rabies vaccine, wormer, general exam at the vet, spaying, microchip, free 30-day health insurance policy issued by 24PetWatch (with valid email only) and a free bag of food from Cullman Pet Depot (you must pay sales tax).

Animal shelter staff and volunteers work with their dogs to make sure they are accustomed to being around people, walking on a leash and practicing good behavior. Several of the shelter’s canine friends have even been “hired” to work as therapy and special needs service dogs.

Please consider adopting, to give a rescued pet a chance at a happy and healthy life.
