HANCEVILLE, Ala. – Joyce Barnett on Sunday announced her candidacy for Hanceville City Council, place 1. The Municipal Election will take place Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2020.

Below is Barnett’s announcement:

My name is Joyce Barnett I am running for city council, place 1. I have lived in Hanceville most of my life. I am on the library board and have received two grants- one a couple years ago and one recently. I attended Wallace State. While attending I wrote a proclamation for drug and mental health awareness.

If elected I want the citizens to know that if they have a problem, they can come to me and let’s see if we can get it resolved ASAP. (I want) to help our seniors in any way; they are our heritage. (I want) to work with the schools reopening in this COVID-19 era to keep our children (be) as safe as possible; they are the future. (I want) to work with City employees; they are out there working- rain, sleet or snow. (I want) to work with the mayor and the council team in helping acquire new business and keeping our city safe for the citizens.

Please consider voting me in the August election.
