Ronald Davis Gilbreath, 74, of Double Springs entered into rest Thursday, July 16, 2020 at Hendrix Health and Rehabilitation.
Mr. Gilbreath was born April 16, 1946 in Jasper, Alabama.
He was affectionately called “Papa” by his children and grandchildren, “Uncle Mushy” by his nieces and nephews and old hunting buddies, and “Brother Ron” “Preacher,” or “Pastor” by the various friends and congregations that he had the privilege and joy to serve for 36 years. Those included Williams Chapel, Ashridge Methodist/Henryfield, Parrish and Gorgas Methodist, Crane Hill, Turkey Town, Crossroads, Ashbury Methodist in Fort Payne, Curry and Arley Methodist Churches. In his leisure time, he enjoyed hunting, farming and fishing.
A graveside service in the cemetery at Shady Grove Baptist Church will be held Sunday, July 19, 2020 at 11 a.m. Reverend David Nelson will officiate.
Mr. Gilbreath is survived by his children Anthony Gilbreath and his wife Beth, DeAnna Gilbreath Studdard and her husband Todd, Ronnie Gilbreath, and Kim Gilbreath Oliver and her husband Scott; brother Roger Gilbreath and his wife Beth; and sister Phyllis Watts and her husband Larry. He was “Papa” to nine grandchildren, Hannah Studdard, Tres Gilbreath, Lindy Oliver, Abigail Gilbreath, Jacob Studdard, Sidney Oliver, Hallie Oliver and Nate Oliver.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife Joan Marie Pelfrey Gilbreath; parents Morris and Lola Gilbreath; and brothers Talley Gilbreath and Timothy Gilbreath.
