CULLMAN, Ala. – Another Cullman Baseball standout has made his college decision. Standout senior third baseman Brennen Norton will be taking his talents east to play for the Jacksonville State Gamecocks and Head Coach Jim Case. Norton announced his commitment to the Gamecocks on Twitter Friday afternoon.

Norton has been an impact player for the Bearcats since his freshman season and his role has only continued to grow since then. Brennen has become one of Cullman’s biggest weapons at the plate and on the mound over the last couple seasons, collecting huge outs in pressure situations and coming up with big hits in big moments. Perhaps the biggest play of his Bearcat career so far came against Chelsea in game one of last year’s state championship series when he ripped a 2-out double in the bottom of the seventh of a scoreless game. It was Cullman’s only hit of the game and just a few pitches later, Norton came around to score the winning run on an error and give the ‘Cats an early lead in the series. Cullman went on to win game two 9-4 and capture that year’s 6A State Championship.

Brennen was well on his way to a stellar junior campaign before the coronavirus pandemic brought an early end to spring sports in March. He’ll have one more year to play with the black and gold this spring before beginning his college career in Jacksonville in 2021.
