Evelyn Helms Akin of Hartselle passed away June 28, 2020 at the age of 68.
Evelyn was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She adored her family and dedicated herself to them. She was an “artist with a needle;” she loved to cross-stitch and made some of the most beautiful pieces of artwork. She was a paralegal for many years and loved anything regarding the law. She was also an avid reader.
She was preceded in death by her parents Onos Trenon and Ressie Jeanette Thomas Helms.
She is survived by her husband Joseph A. Akin; sons Robert (Angela) Chenoweth, Gary Chenoweth, Michael (Janella) Chenoweth, Kenneth (Whitney) Chenoweth and Michael (Anna) Akin; seven grandchildren; sisters Margie (Fred) Spitalsky, Diane (Mike) Hoops and Ashley (Marshal) Kidd; brothers Dannie (Mary) Helms and Dewayne (Suzanne) Helms; and a host of extended family and friends.
Her graveside service will be held at Mt. Hebron Cemetery Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at 1 p.m.
